From logs…        Reuse Is the Highest Form of Recycling       …to lumber

At this time, we only offer pick-up or local delivery.  Remember, we’re trying to conserve fossil fuels.  Stay tuned.

Probably not. At this time, the Minneapolis and St Paul Park Boards are responsible for city trees and they do not sanction saving sawlogs for private enterprise.  Call us to discuss.  It’s worth noting, boulevard trees usually have a high hardware content (staples, nails) that makes milling them rather more treacherous than others.  A blade wreckage surcharge will be applied.

Yes.  We’re happy to do custom milling and unusual requests.  You’ll already find lots of atypical lumber that has heavy character such as:  spalted wood, stained wood, heavy figure and thick, wide stock.  If there’s a will, there’s a way!

Frequently Asked Questions

We kiln dry our lumber to 6-8 % MC (moisture content) .  Some of our lumber is reserved for air drying only.  Air drying is a minimum of two full years.  Kiln or air dried,  the wood must be allowed to acclimate to your site and ambient MC for 7-30 days prior to work.  Remember, wood shrinks in winter and expands in summer here in Minnesota.

What is the moisture content?

Do you do custom orders?

If  the American elm tree on my street is marked can I mill it?

Will you ship lumber or turning blanks to me?

See question #2.  Where there’s a will, there’s a way.  Or should we say, where there’s a mill, there’s a way! But remember: Big Wood=Big Dollars. FYI, our biggest milled log is 52” across.

How big a tree can you mill?
